How to heal your own vagina (and why it matters)
A live online workshop series with Flurina Dominique Thali, osteopath, holistic pelvic care practitioner and PhD researcher & guest teacher Carly Mountain, psychotherapist and author of Untamed Pleasure.
Date & Time:
11th, 18th, 25th November and 9th December, 19:30 - 21:00, on Zoom
This workshop series is for you if you’d like to explore how your vagina, vulva and pelvic bowl can be a place of safety, creativity and power. You may be dealing with menstrual or pelvic health issues, have a history of trauma, or simply feel drawn to the wisdom that lives in this sanctuary at the centre of your body.
For many of us, experiencing pleasure and ease feels unimaginable. In a patriarchal world, shame, trauma, and disconnection from our bodies are deeply woven into our experience, while painful periods, painful sex, prolapse, and other vaginal / pelvic health challenges have become so normalised that many of us are told to simply “get on with it.”
We’ve been taught to disconnect from this part of our body, to call it “down there”, to override our sensations and to treat our symptoms as problems to be managed rather than messages to be understood.
And still, most of us have a sense in our blood and bones that there is more to the story.
This workshop series is for both individuals with health challenges as well as professionals.
For individuals: you’ll learn accessible tools for vaginal health, and discover how you can cultivate a more creative, joyful and sacred relationship to your vagina and pelvic bowl. When you understand the physiology of the vagina and pelvic bowl - particularly the role of inflammation, congestion and stress - you can receive useful information about how to ease your symptoms.
For professionals: If you’re a practitioner working with women and folks and their vaginas and pelvic bowls, we’ll explore a fresh narrative around pelvic health, drawn from my clinical practice as an osteopath and Holistic Pelvic Care Practitioner, as well as my PhD exploring menstrual embodiment through somatic dance practice.
Workshop curriculum
Session One: Coming home to your pelvic bowl as a place of belonging
We’ll meet the pelvic bowl as a container for healing, and cultivate our relationship to it as a living, breathing resource. We’ll take a wildly poetic approach to explore the anatomy of the pelvic bowl; the pelvic wings, the breathing bones, the relationship between the diaphragm and the pelvic floor, the fluid dance in the tissues, and how this knowledge creates the conditions for vaginal health.
Session Two: The Knitty-Gritty - meet your living vaginal anatomy
In this session we dive deeper into our body’s internal, vaginal anatomy including; the clitoral bird, the architecture of the labia, the intelligent design of the vaginal walls, the pelvic hammock and so much more. You’lll leave with practical tools for taking your vaginal health into your own hands.
Session Three: The Wisdom Within: Listening to Your Pelvic Bowl
In the third session we’ll move beyond anatomy into the energetic, imaginal and sensuous dimensions of the pelvic bowl and explore our female bodies as a source of knowledge. You’ll learn how to bring energetic grounding to your vaginal health practices to support trauma healing.
Session Four: Untamed Pleasure and how to unleash with guest teacher Carly Mountain
In this session we’ll explore how to experience more pleasure, and I’m thrilled that Carly Mountain will join us to share stories, teachings, and practices from her recently published book Untamed Pleasure, to illuminate how our natural, erotic sexual flow can support vaginal health.
